Bebo, Inc. operates a social networking site. It enables members to connect friends, as well as share photos, and discover new interests. The company was founded in 2005 and is based in San Francisco, California. As of May 14, 2008, Bebo, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of AOL LLC.
It was recently reported that AOL LLC is looking at selling Bebo, Inc. for around $200 million. However, Bebo denied all sale rumors. "The whole thing is ridiculous and there is no truth in it at all," said a Bebo spokesperson.
Bebo Inc. made it easier for Internet users to manage their online life by providing users with a one-stop 'Social Inbox' that combines e-mail, social networking and media recommendations in one easy-to-use interface. Designed to allow consumers to organize their lives online, Bebo's Social Inbox makes it simple for users to keep in touch with the information and people who are important to them. The Social Inbox aggregates feeds and updates from Twitter, Flickr, Del.icio.us, YouTube, AIM and others, so users can see at-a-glance what's going on in their online world.
Bebo Inc. has appointed Google's head of industry marketing Nicole Vanderbilt to the new role of head of international expansion. Vanderbilt will be responsible for driving Bebo's business and membership internationally, initially focusing on France, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands. She joins from internet giant Google, where she held the role of head of industry marketing in Europe and later in India. Vanderbilt will be based in Bebo's London office."
